دوازده سال پس از معرفی اولین مدل سری IXUS كانن، كه محصولی بسیار موفق بود، هنوز این سری از دوربین‌ها از یك طراحی منحصربه‌فرد، در كنار فناوری‌های پیشرفته‌شان، برخوردارند. این مدل جدید در واقع ادای احترامی به اولین مدل این سری است. ضخامت آن فقط ٠/٧٦اینچ بوده كه (در زمان معرفی - ژانویه ٢٠١٢)، باریك‌ترین دوربین دارای زوم ١٢× است. فناوری‌های به‌كار رفته در این دوربین بسیار كوچك شامل لنزی جدید، حسگر CMOS ١٠/١ میلیون پیكسلی و پردازنده‌ی DIGIC 5 هستند. هم‌چنین این مدل دارای حالت‌های AUTO و Face ID است كه در بسیار موارد به كار می‌آیند. فیلم‌برداری Full HD نیز از دیگر امكاناتی است كه در مدل گنجانده شده است.
